Please have a listen to my music on SoundCloud and YouTube (and maybe subscribe!)
I first started composing when I was eleven. I was inspired by my lovely singing/piano teacher Laura Skuce, who taught me how to accompany myself. My first composition was a setting of 'Do not stand at my grave and weep' (attr. Mary Elizabeth Frye). I regularly set poems to music, as it is one of my favourite methods of composition. However, having set a few poems I began writing my own words, which I also find very therapeutic.
I usually work with acoustic sounds and classical instruments, however I have recently been expanding my sound world on Logic. This has resulted in some really interesting work!
My favourite instrumental ensemble to compose for is the string quartet. Being a cellist myself and having played in chamber groups, I feel I have a strong connection to that sound.
